Happy Birthday… yesterday

Yesterday was my Mom’s birthday. My Mom is this great lady that would probably amaze you if you met her. She turned 76 yesterday. She volunteer’s at the day care two days a week. She is a very active member of her church and is often off to have lunch or dinner with someone. She loves to scrapbook, hand make cards and take pictures of her new Grandson.

My Mom raised two kids as a single mom in the late sixties and the seventies. I often remember her working two jobs just to make ends meet. I get my independence, determination and my work ethic from my Mom. I wish I had also gotten her ability to always be early and her impeccable fashion sense.

Overall, my Mom is a great lady and I couldn’t wish for better Mother.

I love you Mom, Happy Birthday!!

Self curiosity made me do it. I’m just not a movie-goer. Putting myself through school on a part-time basis made movie watching a luxury I just didn’t afford myself. I have friends who wonder what planet I am from, because every time they try to quote a movie or in some way reference a scene in a movie – I haven’t seen it.

PMS+XMS=Grumpy

I’m grumpy today. Must be PMS. I don’t think PMS and X-MaS go together very well. We aren’t even going to discuss being emotional during Christmas specials…

The shirt I was planning on wearing today is ruined. I went to get it out of the dryer (cuz that’s just how it works now…) and I found it …ruined! I apparently closed the tag of said shirt in the dryer door. So after being wound around, oh I don’t know… four bazillian times, the collar finally ripped. Not to mention the beautiful lines down the back that look like wringing marks… damn. Oh did I mention it was a NEW shirt. Fuuuuck!

Today is our departments Christmas party. We exchanged our Secret Santa gifts yesterday… ?? - I know, confusing. But I only work here. Especially now, I really don’t feel like I fit in here. I feel like an outsider. I’m used to being the organizer, doer, helper etc. Here I’m not, I’m the chick from the Silverdome… It’s not like I didn’t know these folks, I have known most of them for many years. But I just don’t feel like I fit in and that sucks.

Space storms affecting blog comments?

You know for a while I thought I was losing my mind… and obviously that potential is still there. But I am quite sure I have been posting some comments and then when I go back either a few minutes later or a day or two my comment isn’t there. I have seen a few people mention that they were having problems posting comments, but I didn’t think anything of it. Because I always preview my comments (just to see how it will look and give myself one more chance to check for typos). The comments have always been there.

But this time I KNOW I posted the comment (I even still have it in word!) and when I go back it’s not there. WTF. Now I can think of at least 3 occasions in the past 2 weeks that I have posted comments and then they were gone. Like I said, I thought it was just me… but now I know, it’s some kind of conspiracy!.

Dropping like flies…

Yep, my counts are way down. But how can I blame you… you click here and see the same ole pictures and the same ole post. You probably think WTF… I’m not sure what my deal is. Maybe I just blew my wad in November. Hehehe

Hunter met Santa last night. It was pretty comical. When I put him in Santa’s lap he just looked up at him like, “Dude, what is all that crap on your face.” Of course you can’t take your own pictures at this point, so the moment was lost. But it will remain in my brain forever – it was hysterical. They got a great pic of Hunter and Santa and when Santa gave him back to Dad, he said “He really is a good baby.” Christmas ought to be good for Hunter this year. We got it straight from the fat man’s mouth… Hunter is on the “Good List”. But then we already knew that.

We ended up buying a small picture package and the CD. Now the CD is supposed to have the picture on it. It was only 5.99 so I guess I shouldn’t have expected much. But if I buy the CD you could at least give me a copy in a decent resolution. Plus, is it too much to ask for you to include the Christmassy (is that a word?) border?? Stupid elves!

Hunter was cracking us up yesterday. He has learned to ‘cluck’ his tongue and it’s a scream. If you do it to him he does it back to you (sometimes it’s not quite a cluck).

Inspired by Meghan and Annika Hunter was given some fruit last night. He got a piece of my caramel apple. Of course I ate all the caramel and nuts off first. He was digging that apple slice. I can’t wait to try more stuff.

Speaking of… today Hunter is 6 months old. Holy crap, where does the time go?

Even tho I haven’t been writing much, I have been reading. I feel like I owe folks a ton of comments. I hate it when life is moving so fast. I feel like I am missing out on stuff. Thanks to those of you that I read that have been updating so much and giving me things to read, I will try to return the favor.

Random Thoughts Thursday

On the way to work this morning I heard a news story about a 12 year old boy whose Mom had him arrested for opening his Christmas present early (a Game Boy Advance). My first thought, “well that’s a bit extreme.” As they continued with the story my thought process changed. Here is an excerpt from the story:

“The boy’s mother told the Herald that she had reached the end of her rope with the child, and no longer knew what else to do with him. She claimed that she has been struggling with his constant behavior problems for a while now, and could no longer handle his misconduct.

According to the boy’s mother, he had already been caught shoplifting, stealing money from her, and punching a police officer. She told the Rock Hill Herald that she hopes this arrest will put a stop to his errant ways, because she is worried about his safety.”

Hey, I know… buy the kid a Game Boy Advance! Way to help straighten the kid out… ASSHAT! I can’t believe some people. The article goes on to say that the Mother plans on turning her son over to the State after the court appearance. Hmmm, let’s see… you can’t accept responsibility, where do you expect that your son is going to learn this behavior. Man, this frosts my cookie…

Is anyone else freaking out that Christmas is less than 20 days away? It could have to do with the fact that I have to work another Saturday. That’s the last full weekend before the Holiday. Oh shit!

The daycare wants Hunter to be the baby Jesus in the Nativity scene for their Christmas Show… I’m not sure how I feel about that. Can you say BIG shoes to fill?

It’s never too cold for ice cream

After dinner and some shopping, my hubby and I stopped at Coldstone Creamery. I know it’s freezing outside, but I wanted some ice cream. I went in and left hubby in the truck with the Bug. Once in the store I ordered hubby’s ice cream and she made it. Then I am right in the middle of ordering mine, I mean right in the middle… and the girl waiting on me breaks into song. Well for those of you that don’t know, if you tip the staff at Coldstone, they sing a parody song (for example, they use the tune of Addams Family but change the words to be appropriate for thanking you for the tip) in appreciation for your tip.

Ok, so mid-order they break into song. So I wait until she is done singing to finish what I was saying. She kinda rolled her eyes, but it one of those things they just have to do. When they finished singing, that lady that gave them the tip says: “I just wanted to hear you guys sing.”

WTF

I think that would totally piss me off if I worked there. Not only did you not tip them because of their service, but you TOLD them you only tipped them to hear them sing…

I guess some people just don’t think before they open their mouths.

Good news, bad news…

Holy shit, it’s cold. I sure don’t mind all four seasons. It’s one of the reasons I love Michigan. But come on… it was 68 degrees on Wednesday and today it’s sleeting and 32 degrees. Now I’m all for some crisp air, but when it goes from 68 to 28 in two days the air no longer feels crisp. It feels really fucking cold. And it’s raining. I would feel better if it snowed, at least it would be brighter outside. How come it doesn’t seem as cold out if there is snow on the ground?

On the up side… no more mud in the driveway or on my truck. All the mud that was on my truck fell off in the frigid cold and the driveway is (hopefully) frozen. We have a long driveway (300 feet) and our neighbors live next to it. They were building a new house this past summer and in the process of building up their grade they completely destroyed our driveway. There hasn’t been gravel on our gravel drive for months. So every time it rains, we have a mud bog to drive through.

Hubby works outside all day; I don’t know how he isn’t completely frozen. He has to work early tomorrow, but I sure see a fire in the fireplace in our future. Speaking of working, we both have to work tomorrow… hello? it’s Saturday… when did Saturday become a work day?

On the up side… I can take a day off next week and maybe get some shopping done.
