It’s the last work day before a week-long vacation.
Need I say more?
The upside? I will have Internet access in the middle of nowhere. I WILL have my blog layout redone(I am doing it myself)*.
Ok… back to work.
Lata…
*Unless I completely give up and say Fuck AND find a template I like. However, I seriously doubt this will happen.

Hubby started a new job this week and quit his old one; a decision we made together.
His old job? … was bad for his soul. Twelve years of mental anguish. He never brought it home, but I know he struggled during the day.
His new job? … Kev doing the happy dance inside. A new gig, full of opportunity.
Old job? … outside 365 days a year.
New job? … inside with air and heat.
Old job…various staring times ranging from 6:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Seriously, last week his start times were as follows:
Monday - 10:00 AM
Tuesday - 10:00 AM
Wednesday - 6:00 AM
Thursday - 11:30 AM <- oh and as an added bonus… work until 5 with no lunch.
Friday - 10:00 AM
Saturday - 7:00 AM
But he was not allowed to work over 39.5 hours. This was for every other week. The opposite weeks there work started an hour earlier, except Wed was still 6AM and there was no Saturday. It was great for most mornings, since he could take Hunter to daycare, but crappy for establishing a routine.
New job: M-F 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, any time over 8 hours a day… OT. Plus 2 - 23 minute breaks and ½ hour for lunch.
While I have lost my morning help, I no longer have to wait until after 6:00 for my husband to get home. Often times it was 6:30 or 7.
I feel like I have gained an hour a day with my family.

I know I am posting this late, but sometimes life is like that. I may even post-date this post. {I post-dated this post. I’m having fits adding pictures to my new wordpress blog. arggh.}
To check out more 12 of 12″ (which I highly recommend) you should go to Chad’s site and read how to participate and check out the other 12 of 12 sites.

Aghshggsshhhhgghghwghghwwghghgh <- Hunter’s 2 cents.
7:16 am Hunter’s awake, but not up.

8:11 am Some roads are STILL blocked after Sunday’s storms. Yep, late for work again.

1:49 pm Lunchtime errands are hampered by stopped traffic and of course I’m on E.

2:33 pm Almost back to work, but one more stop at Walgreen for an anniversary card for my Hubby - today is our anniversary.

5:15 pm The view from my new office window. Time to go.

5:30 pm At Last, Etta James - this was the song my hubby and I entered our wedding reception to.

5:44 pm Just picked up Hunter from daycare.

5:56 pm Grammy is going to babysit so Kev and I can go out to dinner without looking at the kids menu and playing with crayons. ( I won’t know how to act)

6:00 pm Even the smallest amount of time can be quality time.

6:15 ish These are the roses my wonderful hubby got me for our anniversary.

8:13 pm I love my man!!

That’s it. Come back soon for birthday pictures. And for inquiring minds, I let Hunter stay at Grandmas.

There are a busy couple of weeks coming up for the Crap-o-rama household: Father’s Day, Anniversary, three birthdays (including my husband, my son and my best friend). Plus, even on a good day, work is just busier than shit. But we have some very important deadlines and not enough staff.
Father’s Day and Hunter’s birthday will both be celebrated with a bar-b-que this year; one on Saturday and one on Sunday. I know we should just celebrate them together, but that is a whole other issue. So the rest of this week is going to be busy and hectic and everything in between.
So here’s the dilemma:
Hunter’s Grandmother (my Mother-in-law) has offered to take him Friday night to spend the night. Now normally I don’t have any issues with any of his Grandparents taking him overnight. I would also welcome the little break and the chance to sleep in. However, Saturday is my son’s, my only son’s 2nd birthday. If he stays with Grandma, he won’t be back until the afternoon.
I know it won’t make any difference to him… but I think it will to me.
What would you do?

12 of 12 reminder! I’m sure I will get my photos taken, but I can’t imagine when I will be them posted.
Uggh!
Who increased the speed limit on my life??

Ok, so here’s a little peek into my thought process.
I do like my wordpress.com blog but there have been some limitations and I was really ready for a design change.
I checked godaddy.com and www.crap-o-rama.com was available. I had checked previously but it was not available. So I registered it and decided to sign up for a couple of months of hosting. I didn’t want to purchase a whole year in case I was biting off more than I could chew.
I do have some experience designing a couple of lame beginner sites but that was way back in the day and I coded them with html by hand. When I first moved over to my wp.com site I tried to make some changes and dabbled a bit into css, but not much.
I love to learn so I was excited about the thought of really being able to be me with my blog design. However, because time is such a valuable commodity, I knew it may not happen the way I wanted.
I bought Wordpress for Dummies to just get a quick overview of what I was getting into. But like most things I read for a quick lesson, there just wasn’t enough detail information.
At this point I decided I should just find a theme I like, throw some pics in the header and call it good. Through this whole process I was going through thousands and thousands of pictures playing with effects on them and looking for the right one(s) to use.
Then I found the current theme and loved that the template had spots for some pictures. So I spent last weekend getting everything set up and transferred over.
Then I ran across www.wpdesigner.com and a blog entry called “So you want to create a Wordpress themes, huh?” . What an amazingly written tutorial!!!!
The first sentence:
”Creating a WordPress theme from scratch is not hard. I’ll hold your hand through it.”
really gives you the essence of the tutorial set. It is very well written and if you follow along you should really get it. It is a 16 section tutorial that really just brings it all together. I have gone through the whole tutorial and the most important thing I realized?
My current theme is a cluster. Don’t you love the way there are 3 different fonts in this post. It’s the little stuff that makes me crazy! No offense to the person who created it, but it doesn’t handle widgets and it’s not very well organized. And actually some of the coding was wrong to the point that neither WP nor my statcounter account were able to track even the number of visitors. All my stats said 0 visitors, yet I had comments. I have fixed that… the font thing… not so much.
Now, I am in the process of creating a theme from scratch and I am very excited. It may be a while before you actually see the fruits of my labor, but you will see it.
June is a very busy month for me ( yea right, at this point, which one isn’t?). My nephew turned 18 and graduated. My 4th anniversary is on the 12th, Hunter turns 2 on the 14th, my best friends birthday is on the 15th plus that is Father’s Day and July 1 is a pretty important deadline at work and I am really trying to be on vacation that week.
On a sad note, about half way through the tutorial the blog author made an announcement that he has sold his site. $65,000!!! Holy shit. So far there haven’t been any major changes in design or content. Actually the new owner has made an introduction post but that’s it. Now there is spam and shitty comments littered through-out the site (there is a forum section that has virtually been rendered unusable because of a few @ssholes. But most importantly, the great content is still there.
If you have any interest at all in understanding designs behind WP, this is the place to go.
And to Small Potato: I am sorry that you are no longer the owner of www.wpdesigner.com, your ability to write clear concise tutorials is a gift and I truly hope you haven’t given it up for good.

Holy shit, does this sound familiar…
I clicked on this link so fast it was almost comical. I thought for sure the tag line would read: “Scott Radde Michigan, caught duping women out of thousands of dollars”… but it didn’t.
Sure brought back a lot of memories though.
I bet that scum bag is still up to his old tricks. I have long since let the domain name go and when I just tried to look it up to see if it was being used, I realized, I honestly don’t even remember what the exact domain name I used was. Good sign, no? Seriously, that feels like it was two lifetimes ago.
I guess sometimes I just don’t’ get what part of people’s brain grew that makes them like this. Maybe a lobotomy should be preformed to find out. All in favor?
{raising hand}

Well, I have a late meeting tonight; it doesn’t even start until 6:30pm. L No Bug-hug for me tonight.
I was going to write a post about that website that makes my son cuss, but I got completely sidetracked by the above Yahoo article. You can look for that tomorrow – I know Katye will be happy.

My hubby and I were talking over dinner (taco salads) last night. I was explaining this web-site I found that has a tutorial on Wordpress theme designing. I said something like:
“Honey, this site is so bad-ass..”
“Bad-aaa” comes out of Hunter’s mouth immediately.
I cover my mouth and leave the room so I can laugh my ass off out of earshot.
I come back a minute or two later, pretty well composed.
We start talking again…
“Bad-aaa”
“Bad-aaa”
“Bad-aaa”
“French-fry, buddy?” Kevin pipes in
“ben-rye”
“No, buddy this is a chip.”
“chip”
“Yep, chips”
“Nice diversion, Honey” I say.
“Thanks”
Seriously, I really thought “shit”, “what the fuck”, “fuck-sticking around” or some other sorted sting of cuss words would be the first. Certainly not “bad-ass”, but now that I think about it, I sure use it often.
I know it’s bad, but that was hilarious… or as Hunter says: hirarious.

Have you ever had one of those days where you were just having issues getting started? I’m having one of those today. It was confirmed by the fact that I spilled a LARGE glass of water onto my desk and basically straight into my “to be filed” box, which is now a “to be dryed” box. Damn.
I need some motivation here…. and some paper towel, obviously.
