While it may appear that I crash and burned at the end of NaBloPoMo… I don’t feel as though I did. We spent Thanksgiving with family and then in the evening we left for Kevin’s Dad’s cabin in the middle of the state. We spent the next three nights there with more family and another Thanksgiving turkey dinner.
The only other day in November I missed was the 15th. We were north that weekend too.
Sometimes you just have to make sure your priorities are in order. I’m pretty sure ours are. How much do you love seeing pictures of a man, his son, the son’s sons and their sons?
I leave you with: The boys.

NaBloPoMo - last day.
Stats:
30 days, 27 days posted… not too shabby.

I hope that each and every one of you, whether you celebrate Turkey Day or not has a great day.
Even in these tough economic times every one has something amazing to be thankful for. Please take a moment to reflect on what that is for you.
You know what would be really great? Leave a comment here and share with me what you are thankful for.
Me? I’m thankful for my family, my family’s health (broken arms don’t count - sorry Mom), my health, food on the table, a roof over my head and all that generic stuff. But I am also thankful to have a wonderful, grounded and amazing husband. I am thankful for an amazing son that lights up any room he enters.
Come on… share what you are thankful for…
Peace,
~Sheryl

Today was my supervisor’s last day. He was the Finance Director. He was a good supervisor with a very strong integrity. He believed that he had accomplished everything he could and he retired.
Today I was told I will be the Interim Finance Director.
Three years ago, I would have jumped at the chance; in fact I even applied for this very job three years ago. But a lot can happen in three years… and it has.
Honestly, I am still processing how I feel. I know some people are happy for me. But I also know some people are PISSED OFF. Those caps aren’t an accident. The announcement was made in the middle of the afternoon and the furry has already gotten back to me. The insane part is this really is only temporary; the recruitment process has already started. I guess it could lead to me keeping the position, but the point is, some people are angry. I believe it mostly stems from jealousy, but who really knows… or cares.
I don’t really care how people feel. I have always let my work and my work ethic speak for itself. But this job requires very thick skin… very.
This holiday weekend, I have a four days off and I will be using them to process where I am at with my feelings and what will be best for my family.
I’m not the kind of person to shy away from a challenge. Over my career I haven’t been in any one position for longer than 2 or 3 years. I have always been driven and been fortunate enough to continually advance my career.
My goals have always revolved around my career and trying to make a difference. Now my goals revolve around raising a kind, respectful, polite and valuable member of the human race.
Can I do both?

could today move ANY slower?
I hate it when I go to lunch early (I had to get my tire fixed before the snow started falling). It makes the day dddrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggg.
NaBloPoMo – day 24… still.

Well I did my first photo shoot today. It was fun! It was promo shots for a band. We did it outside - it was cold. Note to self: outside photo shoots even if it’s 40 degrees outside… is too damn cold.
I’ll post a couple of my fav’s as soon as I get a chance. I took over 400 shots and I’ve done a preliminary review ranking them. Ok, here is one that really struck me… it’s SOC (straight out of camera).

One of the band members is a great friend, so I am able to get some feedback on my performance as a photog (other than what comes from looking at the shots).
I’m pretty happy. I really only have a couple of things I wished I would have done differently, but that will come with time, I’m sure.
I did take a chunk out of my tire driving through an alleyway… that won’t be cheap. But thankfully I have AAA and Kev didn’t have to come and rescue me.

The casino was fun yesterday and I don’t think I did too much damage. I only left $35 at the casino… unlike one of my friends who donated $200 to the cause. I like to think I know my limits and go to have fun not become rich.
While it was ton a fun, the one real downside is the smoke. It’s not just that it makes my clothes and hair smell… it seems to just penetrate my entire being. At one point I did take walk outside and take several long deep breaths… in through my nose and out through my mouth. I honestly felt better afterwards.

My son is home from his sleep over at Grandma’s. I really miss him when he is not around. He is so full of life… and conversation.

Does it seem that they are trying to start Christmas early this year? Or is it just because the commercials are trying to lure us to the stores earlier?

Going out tonight…
Won’t be available to post anything even resembling a decent blog post tonight… so why don’t you just talk amongst yourselves until I return tomorrow.
TGIF!

Nifty title huh? That’s what happens when you are running low on creativity. hehehe
In honor of my buddy Meghan (she’s doing a DIY theme for NoBlo month),
here is some linky love for all those photography junkies.

I’ve gotten some great ideas from here. It’s a great way to play… cheaply. My next project is a pvc stand to hold a background.

And I’m not positive, but I think Hunter just counted to four in Spanish… I must be mistaken.

Survivor is amazing (as in… too funny) this season… hehehe

Not much out of the ordinary today.
Hunter is sleeping like crap which means I’m sleeping like crap…nice.
I had a meeting at work, off-site. I got there and was told the meeting was canceled until next week. They never sent me the email.
It was 28 degrees outside today.
The Dow fell below 8,000.
Hunter ate part of an orange for the first time today, but refused to try a pineapple.
“Mom” sitting in his highchair eating breakfast.
“Yes Hunter?”
“What’s that?” to me, cutting some pineapple for lunch.
“It’s a pineapple.”
“Pineapple?”
“Yep, it’s a pineapple. Do you want to try some?”
“No thank you.”
Me giggling…
I’m taking promo pictures of my friends band this weekend. I’m excited and nervous. I still think I suck but oddly, I think I will do fine. wtf?
My Wednesday ends watching a new Ghost Hunters…
