January 12 of 12, the final year

Five years ago, Chad Darnell started the 12 of 12. I think this is my 4th year, but I’m not sure and too lazy to look. The concept (all Chad’s) is to take 12 pictures on the 12 of every month and submit the ling to Chad’s site. There he compiles all the links from around the world… a lot of work, no doubt.

Chad has announced that this year is his last. That makes me sad, but I totally understand. I am grateful for Chad’s contribution.

Without further ado… my 12 of 12.

6:00 am - Wet hair - just from the shower.

6:11 am - dry hair - apparently it takes me 11 minutes to dry my hair… it sure seems longer than that.

6:23 am - Letting the puppies out.

7:00 am - Hunter eating a banana, just before we leave for the morning.

7:03 am - Coffee for the road, trying to break the Starbucks habit.

5:17 pm - the view from my office window.

5:18 pm - the view from the other side of the office… hey… I’m know… I’m stretching the 12 out here, and the sunset DID look cool.

5:22 pm - News truck outside work… never a good sign.

5:43 pm - It’s bowling night for me and school night for Kev, so Grandma is on Hunter duty. Grandma and Hunter like to go to McD’s.

5:48 pm - New Motorola Droid phone *random* p.s. LOVE this phone!!

6:25 pm - Bowling alley

8:49 pm - What really happens at bowling. (that’s my buddy Dar)

Now that 2009 has left the room…

we can talk.

Seriously, 2009 sucked big sweaty donkey balls.  Not an all inclusive list, but some of the shittier things:

Kev lost his job in January and stayed unemployed until October when he finally found a part-time job… working weekends.

I didn’t get a promotion to a job I was already doing.  The man they hired over me worked for 4 months until they let him go… then I had to do the job AGAIN… until they hired someone else.  WTF.  I can be the Pretend Finance Director, but not real one. Whateva…

Do I even need to mention the 10% pay cut….?

The tragic and unbelievable death of my friend, Brian … still makes me cry. This one thing in and of itself made 2009 suck the absolute most!

Not to be completely negative, there were some great and amazing things that happened in 2009. I got to meet my long-time Internet buddy, Meghan and her amazing family.

I got to travel to the ocean with my family and I got to show Hunter the ocean, how awesome is that?

As a whole? I’m glad it’s over. I’m very hopeful and positive for the future. Welcome 2010… come on in, kick off your shoes, have a seat… relax and make yourself at home.
