A historic day

For the first time in history, Kevin has a paid day off for Election Day.  Yes folks, it is a historic day indeed.

I have to be honest, I am disappointed.  For a week I have had a photo setup in my mind and it wasn’t able to come to fruition.

I have always taken Hunter with me to vote.  But as I drove by our polling location and the line was wrapped around the building… outside.  I knew it would be unfair to subject my son to such a long wait in such a confined area.  Especially when he could be at school (daycare) playing and learning.  So Kev and I decided, it was best for Hunter to take him to daycare and then the two of us would go and vote.

It took us about an hour from the time we got in line.  That doesn’t’ include the 10 minutes we spent driving around the parking lot waiting for a space to open up.  (I was sure Kevin’s head was going to explode!)  hehehe

Once we got up to the voting room, the Election Official confirmed that I wouldn’t have been able to take any pictures in that room.  Plus, the room was so small I’m not sure I would have been able to pull off what I wanted anyway.  Seriously the room was only about 10′ by 24′… very small compared to the old polling location.  It was moved this election, I would guess to accommodate additional parking… epic fail.  There were about 10 to 15 little booths set up to vote in.  There was not a lot of room there.

So I didn’t get the photo I wanted.  I didn’t get to take my son to a historic election.  I only had to go into work twice, I had lunch with my hubby, my hubby got paid for his first Election Day off and we both voted.  Overall, I’d have to say it was a great day.

Go vote, it gives you the right to complain.
