And you have been given 10 days of crappy posts. Well, it’s not called crap-o-rama for nothing.
Happy Veteran’s Day and thank you to anyone who has servied our country, their families and friends. Your service means I get to be free; I don’t have words for how much I apprecieate this freedom.
Tomorrow is the 12 and you should know what that means…. 12 of 12!!
Plus I don’t have to work (but I am going in for a bit - I’m a dork like that) and I’m getting my hair cut. Should end up with at least a few good shots.
I’m hoping for some more in depth posts in the latter part of this month.
Thanks for haning…
until tomorrow…

nAbLOpOmO - day 11

My job has institued furlough days every other Friday. Every other Friday we have the day off… without pay; it equates to a 10 percent paycut. Our next scheduled furlough day is a week from tomorrow. Veteran’s Day is next Wednesday, which is a holiday (paid) for us. It is a legal holiday; banks are closed, government offices are closed… no mail… yadda, yadda, yadda.
Today they (my work) officially changed the day off in honor of Veteran’s Day from Wednesday to Thursday so we could have a four day weekend…. WTF? Who the hell do you have to think you are to change. a national. holiday?
I think it’s disrespectful and stupid.
Everyone knows government offices are closed on Veteran’s Day, so we are going to be slow as hell. People aren’t going to be able to do business with us Thursday or Friday. In my humble opinion? It’s a bad decision.
I normally don’t bitch about work on the Internet, but I just don’t get this. Am I being silly?
Here is a quote from the link above:
The Uniform Holiday Bill (Public Law 90-363 (82 Stat. 250)) was signed on June 28, 1968, and was intended to ensure three-day weekends for Federal employees by celebrating four national holidays on Mondays: Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Columbus Day. It was thought that these extended weekends would encourage travel, recreational and cultural activities and stimulate greater industrial and commercial production. Many states did not agree with this decision and continued to celebrate the holidays on their original dates.
The first Veterans Day under the new law was observed with much confusion on October 25, 1971. It was quite apparent that the commemoration of this day was a matter of historic and patriotic significance to a great number of our citizens, and so on September 20th, 1975, President Gerald R. Ford signed Public Law 94-97 (89 Stat. 479), which returned the annual observance of Veterans Day to its original date of November 11, beginning in 1978. This action supported the desires of the overwhelming majority of state legislatures, all major veterans service organizations and the American people.
Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. The restoration of the observance of Veterans Day to November 11 not only preserves the historical significance of the date, but helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
“A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.”
yep… they moved it for a 4-day weekend.
great.
Until tomorrow…

The idea is to take 12 pictures on the 12 of the month and post them. Then send the link to Chad so he can put them up on his website. It’s quite cool to see everyone’s day and I am sure the 12th of April will be no different. Here’s a peek into my Easter, 2009:
8:14AM - a sickly little boy. Hunter hasn’t been feeling very well… I hope our holiday’s are not going to be plagued with the stomach flu.. so far Christmas and now Easter.

8:16 AM - My morning coffee.

12:02 PM - Coloring Easter eggs. Like I said Hunter was sick, so we did our eggs today. He doesn’t seem to mind.

12:02 PM - More coloring… I’m just in awe of how quickly he picks up the concept of things. No need to help him out… Mr. Independent.

12:24 PM - Strawberry Shortcake (sugarfree) is done. I always try to make this for special occasions.

2:13 PM - a family portrait. SIL-Kathy, her Dad-Grandpa Mel, my nephew-Billy, Hunter, Grandma (my Mom), Kev and Bill-my brother.

2:14 PM - another family portrait with the photog in the pic. Grandpa Mel, Billy, Bill, Grandma (my Mom), Kev, Hunter and me - yep.. that’s me in a picture.

3:51 PM - Even though it was cold outside, the sun made it beautiful. So outside we went, for a minute anyway.

3:54 PM - My nephew Billy riding the 4 wheeler around the yard.

5:10 PM - Hunter on the couch with Grandma. No he doesn’t have pants… but remember I said has some kind of stomach flu and the last diaper did his pants in.

5:11 PM - Everyone is gone and we have packed up the table and chairs.

5:14 PM - Even the eggs have been put away.

8:01 PM Happy Easter!

There you have it… my Easter 12 of 12. I hope you enjoyed it. I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter.
One historic note: I am actually posting my 12 of 12 on the 12th…
I know I’ve been MIA a bit. We went on vacation and work has been crazy. I hope to be back to my regular posting soon. I also hope to get a chance to post about our vacation to Vegas.

Last post of the year
I know it’s been a while since I posted. The past couple weeks have just flown by. It started back on the 19th . Hunter threw up in the middle of the night… twice. That same day we got 12 inches of snow, on the way home I got stuck in the driveway.

I had to walk up the 350 foot driveway carrying Hunter … through 12 inches of snow. Once home and napping, Hunter got sick again. It was the beginning of a 5 day stomach bug which consisted of puking, not eating and diarrhea. He finally started feeling better on Christmas Eve.
In between bouts of puke and sleep, he felt pretty good… good enough to play outside in all the snow… for a minute or two.

By then I was in full on stomach flu. I never threw up, but I also didn’t eat for days and had absolutely no energy. Not such a good thing for the Christmas holiday season. I literally survived on Vernors and naps.
Here are a couple of shots from Christmas Eve and Christmas:
My favorite Christmas present was not one I received, but one we gave… one I made. This is a deer shot I took over the summer and framed for Kev’s Dad. I’m thrilled at how well it turned out. I think he liked it too.

Hunter playing Santa.

A Christmas morning shot:

And finally, Dad’s Christmas present. I think he liked it.

I’m hopeful I can catch up on everyone’s Christmas… I’ve missed you all.
I wish everyone a healthy and prosperous New Year full of love and happiness.
See you next year.
